Self-Myofascial Release (SMR) is a technique used to relieve tension within the muscle, it can aid in improving flexibility, and can increase muscular performance. SMR works by applying pressure to trigger point knots within the muscle fibers using various tools such as foam rollers, massage balls, or other tools. The purpose of SMR is to release the tension within the fascia (the connective tissue that surrounds bones, muscles and joints).
